Whilst the energy sector relies on fossil fuels for an important part of her energy generation, fossil resources also play an important role in the chemistry sector where they are processed into chemicals and materials. TKI Biobased Economy (TKI-BBE) aims to have both sectors replace these fossil resources by biomass. Towards this aim TKI Biobased Economy works according to the principle of cascading.
TKI Biobased Economy focusses on the development of biobased innovation throughout the biomass value chain. TKI Biobased consists of 4 program lines:
- Thermal conversion
- Chemical catalytic conversion
- Microbiological conversion
- Solar capturing and biomass production
And 2 action lines:
- Societal appreciation
- Societal and economical explorations
