As a forerunner in the energy transition, it is of course important that we look at our COâ‚‚ footprint. In addition, we like to think along with you.

Yes, websites also have a carbon footprint...

The internet consumes a lot of electricity. 416.2 TWh per year to be exact. That is more than the whole of the United Kingdom per year in total.

  • We use a green server

Do you have a website? Check your carbon footprint on websitecarbon.com

  • Dark mode

Displaying the website in dark mode saves considerable energy compared to a white background. As a visitor, you have a direct influence on the footprint of topsectorenergie.nl in terms of display in this choice.

In addition, you can also save a lot of energy by setting (OLED) screens to dark mode.

Last week at a celebratory event, the HOLON tool was launched, a groundbreaking tool designed to help shape the energy system of the future. One of the speakers was project leader Auke Hoekstra, who emphasized the importance of Holonen for the energy transition. He explained that a holon is actually an energy community that takes into account the larger energy system in which it resides.

The HOLON tool offers valuable insight into the complex choices that have to be made when designing the future energy system. This interactive web tool enables users to calculate the effects of different technical settings and policy choices for a specific area, in terms of grid load, sustainability and cost-benefit analysis.

During the presentation, several cases in the tool were demonstrated by Naud Loomans. One of these cases concerned the heat transition vision for municipalities, in which the effects of various heat systems can be calculated for a municipality. These practical examples show how the HOLON tool can be applied to analyze specific situations and make informed decisions.

The event was a great success and we hope that the HOLON tool will inspire everyone with the many possibilities available for designing the future energy system.
