The study "Natural Refrigerants in Heat Pumps," conducted by Infinitus and ENTROPYCS on behalf of TKI Urban Energy and RVO, addresses the specific characteristics and application possibilities of natural refrigerants for heat pumps. Specific features, including price, climate effects, safety, and energy performance, are among the aspects investigated. Performance comparisons between natural and synthetic refrigerants have been conducted using specialized simulation programs and validated against information from practical projects. This study also provides an overview of relevant laws and regulations concerning the phase-out of synthetic refrigerants and the implementation of natural refrigerants.
The report from this study, particularly the appendices, serves as a reference to support policymakers, manufacturers, consultants, designers, and installers in making informed decisions regarding the choice of refrigerant for heat pump applications.
