On Tuesday 21 September 2021, from 15:00 to 16:00 hours, you can watch the sixth edition of TKI Wind op Zee LIVE. This time we will dive into the topic of maintenance. TKI Wind op Zee LIVE will be broadcast from the WCM Fieldlab Zephyros AIRTuB year conference.
What is the path to zero maintenance? Which innovations are (still) necessary to achieve the ideal of zero maintenance?
For maintenance costs, reliability and human capital play an important role. Between one-fourth and one-third of offshore wind energy costs are related to operating and maintaining wind farms. Operations and Maintenance (O&M) can be further optimised, for example, by scaling up the sector. Reliability and availability of offshore wind farms become increasingly important as we move to a production capacity of ± 60 GW. Production failure of large volumes could have serious consequences. In addition, spatial aspects play a crucial role in the busy North Sea, increasing the importance of minimising maintenance activities. And last but not least, health and safety aspects are very important for all the people who maintain offshore wind farms.
